Process Paper
Why we chose this topic:
We chose the topic “Nazi Germany Society and the ‘Superior’ Race” because we thought it was a very interesting event. We had heard so much about it before we started our project and we just thought we would love to learn more. The Holocaust was major event in history so we also thought it would be important to have more knowledge on it.
How we conducted our research:
So far, we have a total of 13 to 14 sources on our bibliography, most of which are on the Internet. Significant aspects of our topic that we are researching on include Hitler’s perspective of a “Superior” Race (Aryan Race), the experiments that the Nazi performed on the Jews, ‘The Final Solution’ and the rights everyone in the Holocaust had. We also borrowed some books from libraries that contained stories about people involved in the Holocaust.
As a group we decided to split the research by giving each other assigned aspects of the topic to do research on. We decided that Ashley would do research on the experiments of the Jews, Elana would do research on the Aryan Race, and Camille is assigned to do research on the rights of the Jews versus the rights of the Germans and the relationship between the two.
Our choice for Website Production and the process:
Choosing our category was probably one of the easiest choices we made on our History Day project. We all simply agreed that we wanted to make a website to make it easier to organize our research information. Plus, we thought it would be cool to try making an informative website as a project. We decided to use Weebly as a website creator, and we quickly developed a simple URL for our project-http://hitlersgermanysociety.weebly.com. The title of our project is found as the title of the website. Inside our website, we have seven pages, most of which are on aspects of the Holocaust. We added our bibliography of 14 sources to the website as well. Not only did we plan to add significant information about Hitler’s Superior Race, but we got into the interest of depicting the aspects though visuals such as images of the Aryan Race, and a video on ‘Hitler’s Rise in Power’.
How our project relates to the NHD theme (Rights and Responsibilities):
The rights we are including in our project are the rights of the Holocaust victims, the rights of the people who tortured victims, and the rights of the Aryan Race. Hitler’s overtaking of millions of Jews contributes to this year’s theme. When you take control over a massive group of people, there are a lot of responsibilities that have to be taken and rights that need to be recognized.
